Dear Members and Friends of Arizona History,

Last week my husband went to the grocery store to buy yeast for our monthly homemade pizza night. On the menu: a highly anticipated roasted butternut squash pizza with caramelized onions and fontina cheese. To our shared dismay, the grocery store baking shelves were empty. Nor were we able to track down yeast online. #QuarantineBaking is a real thing, folks.

With so many of us cozied up in our homes these days, cooking goes beyond basic nourishment. It distracts, entertains, connects, and comforts. With this in mind, we challenged our archivists and museum and collections staff to take you on a culinary journey into the past. Below are historical recipes from our Arizona Historical Society family to yours. Bon appetit!
