Dear Students, Staff, Post Chairmen, and School Counselors,

It is with great regret that The American Legion Department of Arizona

announces that, due to concerns over the COVID-19 outbreak, we have

decided to cancel the 2020 Arizona Boys State session.

Our first responsibility is to our Delegates. Because our program is so

strenuous, and because of their close proximity, we do not believe we can

provide a sufficient level of safety for all of our Delegates and Staff.

For our Delegates who were selected for the 2020 session, we will offer to

make two remedies.

First, if you would like to use your selection on a

college application, something particularly useful for U.S. Service Academy

appointments, please email, and we will issue a

letter for your file, including the details of your selection and why we

canceled our session.

Second, for students who were selected for our 2020

session, we are considering permitting an exception for Seniors to attend in

2021. This has not yet been finalized; if it happens, we will contact you in

the fall.

Refund checks will be mailed out by April 30th to Delegates.

Again, we are sincerely sorry for this change. I believe I speak for our staff when

I say that it’s a week we live for every year.
